Personal Characteristics: Trooper Sidney Hill was a professional photographer and took his camera to war with him. He not only took photo's of the war but was a writer and sent stories back to Australia that were published. One story was titled "The 1st Qld Contingent. The Sunnyside engagement,proceeding at Douglas". In this article he describes the death of Trooper Victor Jones. At the conclusion of this article he wrote,
