Details of service in war: This regiment was formed at Klerksdorp, Transvaal South Africa. On the 4th May 1901 drafts consisting of 250 officers and NCO's and men intended for the NSW Imperial Bushman and Citizens Bushman, under the command of Major Hon. Rupert Carrington. This regiment was then attached to Lt Col E.C. Williams DSO's Column. On the 24 October, the column left Klerksdorp and went to Eastern Transvaal where they took part in General Bruce Hamilton's operations, resulting in heavy losses to the enemy. On the 4 May 1902 some of the time expired men of the regiment proceeded home on the transport Asonia. But many of the men and nearly all of the officers volunteered for further service. The regiment sailed from Durban Natal on the transport Drayton Grange on the 12 July, arriving in Sydney 11 August 1902.
