Details of service in war: Operations with Colonel Remington's Column from 2/5/1901 to 28/4/1902. including Eastern Transvaal and Orange River Colony.

Service and life after the Boer War: Disembarked in Sydney 3/6/1902 per "Aurania". Died in Hospital four days after disembarkation 7th June 1902, in Sydney. Military Funeral 10th June 1902. Ralph Cumming is buried in the Waverley Cemetery in Sydney - Plot 3865, Section 16. It is believed to be the first military funeral of a returned serviceman in NSW after federation.
