Details of service in war: Like most other overseas Contingents at this stage of the war,the 6th were employed for the most part in constantly trekking over given districts,driving in and harrassing the enemy,bringing to the various bases,prisioners,cattle,horses,sheep and vehicles etc., and laying west the country, a service of much excitement and vicissitude. The 6th QIB departed Durban South Africa on the 17 May 1902 in the transport Devon. They arrived in Brisbane from Sydney by Rail on the 17 June 1902. This unit was disbanded on the 23 June 1902
