Details of service in war: He was enlisted first in a draft for the NSW Citizens Bushmen but was then transferred to the roll of 3 NSWMR Service April 1901 - April 1902 in Free State and East Transvaal under Rimington including Boer breakthrough at Langverwacht (24 February 1902)

Service and life after the Boer War: He married Laura Lilly Surham on 11 April 1903 in the Congregational Church, Waterloo, Sydney. He joined the NSW Government on probation in July 1911 and was confirmed in the signals department in April 1912. He worked in Sydney, Canterbury, Canningar, Junee and Yass until retiring 11th May 1943. He died in Lidcombe State Hospital although his normal addrss was 12 Hornsey Rd, Flemington, NSW.
