Personal Characteristics: Must've been impressed by the NSW Lancers as he had the 'Crest' tattooed on his left arm as noted in his joining papers for WW1.

Reasons to go and fight: Was training with Lancer Squadron in the UK, chose to serve with his fellow Lancers in South Africa

Details of service in war: November 1899 - December 1900 in northern Cape Colony, Free State, and east Transvaal; with French's cavalry division from relief of Kimberley (February 1900) to sweep to Heidelberg (October 1900);

Service and life after the Boer War: World War 1 Service, 2nd Light Horse landing at Gallipoli (9 May 1915), then served in Egypt and Palestine. Served to 11 April 1916 - disembarked Sydney on 12 May 1916.
