Details of service in war: April 1901 - April 1902 in west then east Transvaal.
Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia: 4 June 1902. Worked as a labourer. Served in WW1 as 369 TPR JJ Woods 11th Light Horse Regiment from 12 January 1915. Wounded (slightly - grenade (bomb) wound to the buttock) whilst on transfer to the 5 LH at Gallipoli 5 November 1915. Served in Palestine with 11 LH and on railway construction tasks. Returned to Australia 29 April 1919.
