Details of service in war: December 1899 in northwest Cape Colony including victory over rebel band at Sunnyside (1 January 1900), Free State, and east Transvaal. Wounded and invalided to Australia ,arriving on the 01/09/1900. When he terurned to South Africa with the Australian Commonwealth Horse, the unit saw no active service.
Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia with the 7th Battalion Commonwealth Horse on the 18th July 1902. No further details available until his premature death in 1909
