Details of service in war: The 3rd Australian Commonwealth Horse did not see active service in South Africa. Their time was spent in camp at Kitchener's Kop, Natal.
Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia: 9-13 August 1902 on Drayton Grange. Did mot marry. Worked as a motor mechanic. Lived at Berowra NSW. In WW1 he joined the AIF on 14 January 1916 and served as 15597 Gunner Hugh Talbot 5th FAB, 5th Reinforcements then Bombadier with 2nd Division Ammunition Column Sailed on HMAS Ceramic 14 April 1916 Fought on Western Front Returned on Rio-Negro 29 March 1919.
