Details of service in war: March 1900 - March 1901 in Free State, west and east Transvaal; joined to 1st Qld Mounted Infantry April - November 1900, part of Australian Mounted Infantry Brigade November 1900 - March 1901.

Service and life after the Boer War: Returned on the Toravio 3 May 1901, discharged 17 May 1901. Married 1902. Occupation bridge carpenter with railway 1903. lived Rose street Rockhampton 1909. lived Upper Dee. Later lived in a home (with a wide veranda) behind the Lakes Creek Hotel. (It is said George may have built one of these homes.) 1922 his wife passed away leaving him with 8 children aged from 3 to 15. George married again 1923. He had a lovely garden of vegtables & flowers and one grandchild said she loved to visit his display of topiary made of animals, kangaroos ect. He also supplied the Nuns who lived nearby with honey from his numerous hives but apparently never spoke to them. (This information has been collected with the help of cousins Jill, Margaret, Joan and Dorothy.)
