Details of service in war: February 1901 - May 1902 in Cape Colony including deWet hunt, Orange Free State including action near Grasspan and Transvaal including sweep west of Kroonstad.
Service and life after the Boer War: He was discharged from the British Army in 1903. In 1912 he came to Australia. He enlisted for WW1 at Liverpool NSW. He joined the 12th Light Horse on the 4 March 1915 as a trooper transferred to the 6LH 29 August 1915, back to the 12th 22 February 1916, 4LH 14 October 1917. Promoted corporal, 30 November 1915, sergeant 3 April 1916, Squadron Sergeant Major. warrant officer class two 3 May 1917. He fought at Gallipoli, and in Palestine, including the charge at Beersheba. Married to Emma Hunt in 1921, they had two sons and three daughters. They lived in Gyura before they came to Inverell NSW.
