Details of service in war: From May 1900 in Rhodesia, west Transvaal including capture of de la Rey's convoy and guns at Wildfontein (24 March 1901) and Orange Free State. Believe he worked within HQ and with the CO (Colonels Mackay then Le Mesurier) on administrative matters. Invalided to Australia, arrived 12 August 1901.

Service and life after the Boer War: NSW Police. Mounted Police Sergeant. Loved horses throughout. Many two year country placements. Long Service Medal. Imperial Service Medal (awarded 1930). Married Adelaide Maude Cook at Enfield NSW (Dec'd 1950)on 24/8/1904. Three Children Cyril, Railway Police (Dec'd); Eva Maria, Home duties (Dec'd 1983); Veronica, Management and home duties aged 94 now advanced alzheimers and at Strathdale aged care facility, Strathfield NSW since 2001.
