Details of service in war: From Lismore, NSW, newspaper- March 1947 (see below). Served with the "Australian contingent" in the Boer War. The casket was covered with the Union Jack, and, at the conclusion of the service at the graveside - the "Last Post" was sounded.
Service and life after the Boer War: Came to Australia - gold miner at Kiandra, sewing machine mechanic in the Sydney area. Opened a successful sewing machine shop/business at Lismore NSW. Married and had four children. Remained an American citizen.
