Service and Life Before the Boer War: Charles father Henry Kasper owned a green grocer's shop on Main Street Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. Charles was brought up on the family estate 'Hill Farm Estate' at Holland Park in Brisbane. Charles as a young bloke took a very strong interest in horses winning many a ribbon at various shows. Charles spent part of his young life at Cambooya on the Darling Downs.

Personal Characteristics: Family man with keen interests in horses - of Prussian origin - Charles' father Henry Kasper born in Griffenberg. As a young man Charles spent most of his time helping in the family shop or doing things with horses - a true horseman.

Details of service in war: May 1901 - April 1902 in eastern Transvaal and Free State in clean up operations driving between blockhouse lines.

Service and life after the Boer War: Married first in 1908 - wife passed on my grandmother was Charles housekeeper from 1909 onwards he then married her in 1917. In 1905 charles bought a house on Fairfield Road Fairfield in Brisbane and lived at that address until his death in 1933. Charles spent his later years ridging in his buggy and chopping firewood for bakeries. He took my father with him as dad was the eldest.
