Details of service in war: Service: April 1901 - March 1902 in east Transvaal, Free State including defeat at Mokari Drift (27 September 1901), and Natal border campaign including stand at Onverwacht (4 January 1902) where 13 died and 17 wounded. Newspaper reports at the time show him as not returning at the same time as the unit but in South Africa awaiting passage to England.
Service and life after the Boer War: After the war he was a Queensland State School teacher. His service included Head teacher at Highworth, Rosemount and Bli Bli (1921-1934) schools.
