Details of service in war: This unit was embodied in the Rhodesian Field Force, of which they became the 2 Regiment,and particpated in operations in Rhodesia between, the 11th October 1899 and 25 May 1900. As portion of the 'Bushman's Brigade' in Col Plumer's Column, they assisted in the relief at Mafeking. The Brigade served subsequently in General Carrington's Column. They were involved in many operations in Transvaal east of Pretoria including Khenoster Kop. The 3rd QMI returned home on the 9 May 1901 on the Morayshire and landed in Sydney then by rail to Brisbane. Disbanded 21 June 1901.
