Service and life after the Boer War: Worked as a carpenter. Married 'Mrs FK Tier', was living in Paddington NSW in 1914. Joined the AIF 19 September 1914, by December he was a Staff Sergeant. Saw service in Egypt then France in the Australian Army Service Corps. Promoted Warrant Officer Class One 30 August 1917. Returned safely to Australia and was discharged from the AIF 23 April 1919. Was living in Crown Street Wollongong NSW at the time of his death in 1938.
