Details of service in war: Served as a farrier sergeant. April 1901 - April 1902 in Free State and East Transvaal under Rimington including Boer breakthrough at Langverwacht (24 February 1902). He took part in the Harrismith Drive resulting in the capture of 25 prisoners, 26,000 cattle and 2,000 horses. Part of Rimmington's Column.

Service and life after the Boer War: Albert Wonson arived in Victoria Australia as 20 year old in 1887 on board the transport Salier.He was employed as a coachmen and married Ada Hopkins in 1894. He served in South African Boer War with the 3rd NSW Mounted Rifles returning in March 1902. On 4 August 1902 he departed from Sydney on board the transport Souowa, arriving in San Francisco Califorina USA, 25 August 1902. In 1902 Albert was residing in Burlingame San Mateo Califorina and was employed as a foreman at a stock farm. Records show that he travelled frequently between America and England. Eventually he located to Canada.
