Service and life after the Boer War: He spent his childhood in a convent at Geelong Victoria due to the death of his mother. In later life he hitchicked across to Western Australia perhaps looking for gold.He enlisted while in W.A.Later he married in W.A. and then returned to Victoria with his wife and started his family. He worked at Carlton Brewery where he remained until retirement.
