Reasons to go and fight: A servinc NSW Lancer, may have trained with Lancer Squadron in the UK (most of the second Lancer reinforcement draft had done so).
Details of service in war: Served at Paardeburg, relief of Kimberley until invalided home, arriving on the 6 August 1900.
Service and life after the Boer War: Married Ellen. Lived at Warratah NSW, and worked as a Blacksmith. He served in WW1, enilsted on the 7 August 1915, in the 1 LH, he was transferred to the Artillery, promoted Corporal 8 August 1916 and posted to 14 Field Artillery as a shoeing smith; he saw active service in France. Discharged 28 September 1919.
