Details of service in war: May 1900 - May 1901 in Rhodesia under Carington and west Transvaal including capture of de la Rey's convoy and guns at Wildfontein (24 March 1901). Thomas Mc Alister also served with the Third NSW Imperial Bushman which was formed in South Africa on the 4 May 1901. He was a Farrier, Service # 5112, Murray List # 159. This Regiment arrived home in Australia on the 12 July 1902 on the transport Drayton Grange.
