Wounded (at Alexandria) losing the index finger of his right hand 10 June 1915, returned to Australia 29 July 1915, discharged 10 December 1915. Re-enlisted 24 April 1918 for home service, served in the 3^rd District Guard and the Passport Guard. Demobilised 28 January 1920. Was married to Selena Ann Dare, had seven children, lived at Ascot Vale. 3 boys all fought in world war 2.
