Details of service in war: By the signing of the peace treaty on the 31st of May 1902 the third contingent had begun to arrive, the 27th to 32nd Battalions arriving at the Cape just days prior to this event and as such 'squeezing' a medal.

Service and life after the Boer War: Following his Natal Militia Service he joined the South Africa Constabulary as a constable until after the Natal Rebellion of 1906. He then moved to New Zealand and married there arriving in Australia in 1908. He lived at Manly where he was a master builder. His five children were born there. He was killed in a building accident in 1934
