Details of service in war: Boxer Uprising 1900 - LEA Reginald, Private RM, New South Wales Contingent. Embarked on 08/08/1900 on board SS Salamis and returned to Australia on 25/04/1901 on board SS Chingtu. Enlisted in the Scottish Horse on 20/08/1901. The 1st and 2nd Scottish Horse formed from Australian volunteers, drafts from Scotland and South Africa. In 1902 both regiments were disbanded at Edinburgh Castle, after repatriating Australians and discharging South Africans. It appears Reginald had 2 different numbers (I know they worked in 6 month periods), as his "Proceedings on Discharge" papers give his Service No as 38735. This was on 28 May 1902. Service and life after the Boer War: No service after the Boer War. He married Mary Maud Perrett on 3 February 1904 in Paddington, NSW. They lived in Bondi, NSW and had four children, the youngest being my mother, born 1913. Reginald was a tramway driver. He died on 18/06/1940 in the Mental Hospital, Callan Park, Leichhardt Municipality.
