Details of service in war: From December 1899 with 1NSWMR in north-west Cape Colony, Free State, and Transvaal. He was repatriated in 12 July 1900 with enteric fever (typhoid) before he signed up again in 1902. May 1902 with the 3ACH. Arrived in Durban on 30 April and moved to camp at Kitchener's Kop near Newcastle, Natal. Unit was involved in escorting Boer delegates to the peace conference location south of Johannesburg.
Service and life after the Boer War: He remained in South Africa after the Boer War and became a farmer at Benoni, near Johannesburg. Grandchildren live in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
