Details of service in war: 'The 3rd Contingent left on the 1st March 1900,by the transport Duke of Portland, calling at Albany on the 12th and arrived at Capetown on the 2nd April; thence proceeded to Beita and disembarked there. They were embodied in the Rhodesian Field Force, of which they became the 2nd Regiment, and participated in operations in Rhodesia, between the 11th October 1899 and 25th May 1900. As portion of the Bushman's Brigade in Colonel Plumer's Column, they assisted in the relieve of Mafeking. The Brigade served subsequently in General Carrington's Column. On the 9th May 1901 the Contingent departed for home on the transport Morayshire at Capetown. Arrived Sydney 7th June 1901 thence by train to Brisbane. Disbanded on the 21st June 1901.
