Service and life after the Boer War: After his discharge in 1901, Jack returned to Blandford near Murrurundi in NSW and purchased 'Riverslea', a small property of 42 acres, and over the next few years purchased two additional properties in the area which he farmed and stocked with cattle, remaining on the land until his death in 1957. He married Margaret Gooley and had nine children. He served as President and councillor of the Warrah and Murrurundi Council and was active council member from 1914 to 1950 and was awarded the King's Silver Jubilee Medal in May 1935 for services to the State by the Governor of NSW, Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven..
