Service and life after the Boer War: After the war he left Tasmania and followed his sister to NSW. He married Elizabeth Adelaide Kelly in Yerong Creek and became a farmer in Grenfell. Both he and is wife passed away at a young age and their children Francis 9, Jessie 4 and Elsa 2 were left in the care of their mother's sister Jessie Kelly. There was a second born child Herbert who died at 1 year of age.
