Details of service in war: Served in Bethune's Mounted Infantry and was wounded at Vryheid.
Service and life after the Boer War: My grandfather was discharged on the 25th November 1900 (my sons birthday, 1982) He then joined the South African police force and as far as I can work out did not come back to Australia for approx 4 years. I have in my possession his 'little black book' that he used for his 'rounds'. When returning to Australia he married my grandmother, Mable Julia Veronica Bradford and they lived in Footscray. He was a painter and decorator. Quite a life this gent had.
