Personal Characteristics: Height 175 cm, Weight 65 kg (1916), of fair complexion with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Reasons to go and fight: Detail not provided.

Details of service in war: Harry put his age up to enlist and turned 18 on the ship going to South Africa. He was in South Africa May 1901 - March 1902 in Free State including defence of Graspan (6 June 1901) and charge at Grootvlei (2 August 1901); amalgamated with 5th SA Imperial Bushmen. They didn't stop in one place for more than 3 days. He had his horse shot from under him and was trying to retrieve the saddle when his sergeant picked him up by his braces and slung him across his saddle and rode to safety and probably saved his life.

Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia, 27 April 1902 on Manchester Merchant. Married Eva Jessie lived at Brinkworth South Australia. Worked as a stock and station Agent. Joined the AIF, 3 April 1916. Served with the Field Artillery (49 Battery) in France. Returned to Australia 6 August 1919. Served in the home forces in World Ear II.  Harry was the Secretary to the Boer War Association in Adelaide up until his death in 1961.
