Details of service in war: Enlisted as a Private- Farrier. Promoted Sergeant Major in the field. Hampden Livesey was the oldest member of the Boer War volunteers in Queensland, we have a photo of him with Charles Shaw the youngest member. We know that he was at the Elands River, and the relief of Mafikeng. Slightly wounded Ottoshoop, East Rhodesia 4-18th August 1900.

Service and life after the Boer War: After returning from Boer War he participated in many community affairs, also after the death of his youngest daughter ivy (who died three months after having her son),he and his wife were the carers of their grandson ivan (my grandfather),until Hampden's death in 1926. I will include, newspaper write ups in the post, showing he was a well-respected man in north Queensland. He also attended the veterans association in Brisbane.
