Details of service in war: Joined the Cattle Rangers an "Imperial" or unit formed from locals, and drifters from the UK and other British colonies on 12 June 1901. He served in the Cape Colony and Transvaal. Prior to the disbandment of the Cattle Rangers, he Transferred to General Rundle's Column and served at Pretoria.
Service and life after the Boer War: Continued to live in South Africa. He served in the 1st Imperial Light Horse during the Dutch Rebellion August to December 1914 German South West Africa Campaign January to August 1915.
