Details of service in war: Service: April 1901 - April 1902 in Free State and East Transvaal including Boer breakthrough at Langverwacht (24 February 1902).
Service and life after the Boer War: Post war he became a tram driver which he drove before learning to drive a car. He sometimes forgot that he had to use the steering wheel on the car which caused his passengers some concern. He also owned a Harley Davidson motor bike and used to make long trips on it to relatives in the Northern Tablelands. He lived in Padstow and was heavily involved in a huge vegetable garden in his yard. He loved walking and fishing and taught his children to fish. He died at the War Veterans home at Collaroy just short of his hundred.
