Service and Life Before the Boer War: Frank's parents were both born in Germany. He was born on 20 May 1874 at Booval near Ipswich, Queensland. Married Jane Greasley in 1894 in Brisbane - had one son. They lived at Blackstone near Ipswich. Jane died in 1906 in Ipswich.

Personal Characteristics: He was a Schy! He would have been abnoxious and stubborn. Height 172 cm, weight 72 kg (1916).

Reasons to go and fight: To quote the webmaster's grandmother when lamenting the propensity for family members to seek military service when a war was mooted "er hatte das Blut".

Details of service in war: March 1900 - March 1901 in Free State, west and east Transvaal.

Service and life after the Boer War: After the Boer War Frank went back to work as a Coal Miner. Later he worked as a Motor Car Proprietor and Labourer eventually becoming a Licenced Victualler. Jane died in 1906 in Ipswich. Married Leah Ann Thomas in 1907 in Brisbane - had four sons. They lived at Cothill Road, Silkstone, Ipswich. Enlisted 8 July 1916 in 49 Battalion AIF, served in France where he was wounded in action 7 June 1917. Returned to Australia 18 October 1917. Three of Frank's sons served in WW2.
