Details of service in war: Charles Marshall served with 7BN Aust Cmnwlth Horse (Qld)and left from Pinkenba on 19th May, 1902 in Transport "Custodian". He arrived in Durban 22nd June, 1902 and Peace having been declared did not proceed further than Newcastle, Natal. He embarked on 28th June, 1902 at Durban in transport "Manchester" and arrived in Brisbane 2nd August, 1902, and disbanded 9th August, 1902.
Service and life after the Boer War: On 7th October, 1902 he applied to return to Capetown to seek employment declaring that he would have in his possession at least One Hundred Pounds. He married twice. His first wife died 1908 and they had a son,born 1905, and a daughter and he remarried about 1915 and had another daughter born 1916. He was said to be a Consultant to the Railways and he died 30th May, 1942 of cancer.
