Details of service in war: The 5QIB saw plenty of fighting. They were constantly in touch with the enemy, and besides innumerable small skirmishes, mention may be made of operations of the 24 and the 25 May 1901 at Klipfontein and Moorefontein, Mokari Drift, Caledon River, 27 September 1901, Onverwacht Battle 4 January 1902.

Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia: 30 April 1902 on the St Andrew and train from Sydney. No further details provided.
