Reasons to go and fight: Father had been a captain in the army, brother served in NSWCB and 1ACH.

Details of service in war: February 1900 - March 1901 in Free State, Transvaal, and western Cape Colony including charge at Diamond Hill (12 June 1900) with 2 NSWMR. Wounded Dreifontein 10 March 1900. Then commissioned into the British Army (5th Mounted Infantry Bn, Worcestershire Regt Coy) fighting Boer Commandos in the Orange Free State and the Transvaal.

Service and life after the Boer War: Moved to Victoria and was an accountant residing in Malvern in 1914 and an area officer for the Militia. Enlisted in 8th ALHas a 2lt promoted Lt then T/Capt prior to departure from Heliopolis for Gallipoli. Killed in August 1915 during the Battle of the Nek. Five brothers served in WW1 one of whom a trooper with 1ALH died of wounds received at Gallipoli and was buried at sea.
