Details of service in war: April 1901 - April 1902 in Free State and east Transvaal including Boer breakthrough at Langverwacht (24 February 1901). Contracted rheumatic fever in 1902 - hospitalised 4 months with rheumatic fever. Commanding Officer was Lieutenant Colonel (Later Major General) Charles Cox CB.

Service and life after the Boer War: Married Isabel. Moved to West Kogarah NSW. Joined the Australian Military Forces in WW1 serving 245 days then discharged to join the AIF as a sergeant on 18 July 1917 no N79897 serving another 185 Days. No overseas service. He worked as an Electrician on the tramways untill WW2 when he joined again with No N435939 serving another 477 days on the Instructional staff.
