Awards/Decorations: Queen's South Africa medal with four clasps (Rhodesia, Relief of Mafeking, Transvaal, SA 1901).

Personal Characteristics: Well built man, aged in his late 20's upon enlistment was part of a 12 Mount Morgan Bushman's contingent initially trained in Mount Morgan travelled with other recruits by rail to Archer Street Railway Station (Rockhampton), than travelled to Brisbane.

Reasons to go and fight: To fight for King and Country, born London, England, arrived in Rockhampton with parents and three siblings in late 1876 aboard barque (Scottish Hero), soon after moved with family to Parramatta and Sydney January 1877 aboard steamship 'Boomerang'. Four other brothers born in Syndey, family returned to Rockhampton than to Gold mining town of Mount Morgan in early 1890's.

Details of service in war: April 1900 - April 1901 in Rhodesia, west Transvaal including relief of Mafeking (16-17 May 1900), defeat at Koster River (22 July 1900) and defence of Elands River Post (4-16 August 1900), and in northern Transvaal including battle of Rhenoster Kop (29 November 1900), and advance on Pietersburg.

Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Mount Morgan, married in Rockhampton where he and his wife had children up to time of his tragic work related death on Railways.
