Reasons to go and fight: Difficulties finding farm work - Drought conditions.
Details of service in war: Battalion made it as far as Volksrust in the Transvaal. They did get to escort sone Boer delegates across the Boffalo river on their way to the conference at Vereeniging. The unit saw no other action.
Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia on the Manchester Merchant in July 1902. It is presumed he returned to work in the pastoral industry, he did not see further military service.
