The Murray Reference

The work of Lieutenant Colonel PL Murray is the most comprehensive reference we have on Australia’s participation in the second Boer War 1899-1902. There are few individual soldier dossiers in the National Archives of Australia or other institutions. It was commissioned by the Australian Government and completed around 1910. Its publication here is in the nature of image scans of pages and not the easiest to use.

Using the Reference

First select the first of the index pages by selecting the index button. Scroll through the pages until you find the item you are interested in; note the page number, then use the go to page function. If you are searching for details on a particular soldier, you will find it easier to use the AWM’s index, again you will need to note the page, then use the go to page function.
